Description
Pacifist is an application that opens Mac OS X .pkg packages, .dmg images and .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .xar archives and allows you to extract individual files or directories from them. This can be useful, for example, when some files in an installed system application are damaged or deleted. You can put them back in place without reinstalling the entire system. You can see what files are in an externally downloaded package before installing it on the system. Pacifist can also check installed applications for missing or outdated files. Pacifist will help you determine which installer installed kexts on your system and whether they belong to Apple or a third-party developer. For For some types of archives, it is possible to download a single file from a large archive with access via HTTP without having to download the entire archive.
