What is meant by working in a “Freelancer” account?

Freelancing, self-employment, or independent work is the act of working independently.

This means that it is not affiliated with a specific company or institution and is not subject to the authority of the employer, manager, or other.

Self-employment means that a person can work at home, in a café, or anywhere he wants.

He can also work at the time he wants without the supervision or order of the company manager, bosses, healer…

A self-employed person is a master of himself in the true sense of the word.

Any self-employed person can immigrate to Italy quite easily and obtain residency, provided that all the requirements for this type of immigration are met.

How can I immigrate to Italy for self-employment?

It is possible to immigrate to Italy to work as a self-employed person within the limits of the annual immigration quotas

It is also possible to immigrate to Italy outside the quotas, but entry outside the quotas is very limited.

A person wishing to work as a self-employed person in Italy must obtain an entry visa for self-employment.

They must prove the work they will be doing and their financial capacity.

How can I obtain an Italian visa for self-employment?

The procedures will vary depending on the type of professional activity you will carry out in Italy.

There are two types of professional activities, one of which must be registered and the other not.

Professional activities that must be registered in the public relations register:

If it is intended that the self-employment be registered with the company registry, which requires obtaining a permit or license, its registration with the public relations registry, the filing of a complaint or declaration, and any other administrative steps

The person must apply to the appropriate administrative authority.

Or by appointing a private lawyer (with a sworn translator accepted by the Italian Consulate in the country of origin) who will prove that there are no obstacles to the issuance of the work permit on a private account.

In the case that qualifications or business licenses of a special type are not required, the license can be requested directly from the Chamber of Commerce to start the business.

The Chamber of Commerce requires the person to provide a statement of financial resources in order to start the business.

The financial resources must not be less than the value of the annual social check, which is estimated at 5,749.90 euros

Professional activities that are not required to be registered in the public relations register:

An activity that is not registered in the register of companies or that is not required to have a permit or license, this can not be registered in the public relations register.

Examples of such activities include:

In this case, the competent department does not have to provide the necessary documents to apply for an Italian visa.

Conditions for obtaining an Italian visa for self-employment:
In order for a person to apply for a work visa in Italy, they must meet the following requirements:

  • Availability of financial means to cover expenses (must not be less than 8,400 euros) ;
  • payment of health insurance taxes ;

  • The application for a no-objection document must be sent to the police together with all documents related to self-employment, including certificates issued by the relevant authorities.

What to do after obtaining a no-objection document from the police?

Once the self-employed person obtains a no-objection document from the police, he/she can then proceed to apply for an Italian visa at the Italian embassy or consulate.

A person who has obtained a self-employment visa can obtain a residence permit in Italy for a period of 180 days from the date of obtaining the visa.

After that, he/she can apply for a work permit in Italy within 8 days from the date of arrival.

The duration of stay in Italy is two years maximum and is renewable

After 5 years, a person can obtain permanent residence in Italy.
