Description

“Felix works in the Ministry of Death, and his beloved, Virgin Betty, works in the Ministry of Life. Felix hopes that, finding himself in the human world under the guise of the Grim Reaper, he will definitely meet her. And now Felix’s task is to doom people to death. And to conquer the love of his (un)life, he learns to dance.

Since Felix can only move in the shadows, he must carefully make his way through the mysterious world. Fortunately, Felix, like the other reapers , is able to control the sun and change the angle of the shadow. So, along dark paths, he moves in the world of the living. Felix is ​​forced to solve puzzles so that people die. After all, everything must go according to the plans of the Ministry.

” We decided to create Felix The Reaper because we admire the ubiquity of death in art, often funny and grotesque. Many motifs associated with death have their origins in culture, such as the Danse Macabre or Death and the Maiden. We combined these two motifs, and this is how we came Felix The Reaper.

When inventing the character himself and his world, we were inspired by various sources: the old TV series “The Twilight Zone”, the works of medieval artists Bruegel and Bosch, the cartoon characters of “Adventure Time” and Hayao Miyazaki.

Felix The Reaper was also heavily influenced by the collaboration between the various artists involved in creating the game. We collaborated with dancers, a huge number of musicians and historians.

Dancing

Several dancers took part in the creation of the game. The movements included in the game are the fruit of improvisation by Gunilla Lind and Raphael Ferdinand Eder-Kastling.

“Music

Of course, a hero who dances needs great music – otherwise why dance? The game is created in such a way that the musicians are given complete freedom. They did not have any specific framework. We wanted them to add their own vision to the game. This is how we got a very diverse and unusual selection of musical works. Since the puzzles don’t push you anywhere, you have time to listen and appreciate this strange music.

Art history

The game’s concept is inspired by art history. We took the Danse Macabre and Death and the Maiden motifs as a basis and asked ourselves: how to make a game out of them? So, after trying different ideas, we came to this option.

For his book, one historian studies what the image of death was like in art for more than ten centuries. While we were working, he would let us know if he found anything interesting, and we would try to use it in the game whenever possible. We have added five articles by historian Søren Hein Rasmussen – they can be found during the walkthrough.
