Description
Those familiar with Wine will enjoy working with CrossOver Mac. This application allows you to run programs written for Microsoft Windows without actually installing the operating system.
CrossOver Mac includes a Windows program library for Windows programs that it can run. You will find very popular applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Quick or Windows Media Player. Keep in mind that you will still need an installer to install any application.
CrossOver Mac will create bottles, which are essentially Windows environments, for the programs you install. These include their own C drive, subdirectories, and registry.
Because CrossOver Mac is not truly a virtual environment, it can run applications much faster. The downside to this is that you never feel like you’re using Windows. Another problem with CrossOver Mac is that software not supported by Wine will either not work or be unstable.
